Gelatin Peel-Off Mask
Gelatin is commonly used in many commercial topical peel-off face masks. It is rich in collagen, which contribute to the smoothing out facial lines and supporting firmer, plump skin.
Gelatin may also support improvements in the firmness and elasticity of the skin as it provides and promotes additional collagen growth in the skin.
Here is a simple and easy to make mask for radiant glowing skin.
Ingredients
2 Tbsp unflavored beef gelatin
3 Tbsp coconut milk or water
1 drop of essential oil of choice - lavender or chamomile oil are a good choices for dry skin and reducing inflammation. Lavender is also a good choice for sensitive skin also.
Note: It is important to make sure you choose an oil that is not triggering for your skin. A good idea is to patch test any ingredients first on a small section of skin and leave for a few hours to monitor for any potential reaction.
Method
- In a bowl, combine Beef Gelatin powder, liquid and essential oil of choice and mix well.
- Heat over a double boiler, once hot stir until all the gelatin grains have fully dissolved.
- Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool down until it starts to have the gelling property commonly associated with gelatin.
- Apply the mask evenly over the skin and let it dry for 10 to 15 minutes.
- When ready to remove, peel it off gently and rinse skin with lukewarm water.
- Apply your serum and moisturiser as normal.
