vegan collagen alternative smoothie

Collagen Chai Latte Smoothie 

This delicious chai smoothie is a perfect option to bridge the seasons and support collagen synthesis in the body.  Full of spiced flavours, this recipe tastes of a warmer season through its spiced and smooth texture. It is high in protein and provides plenty of natural ingredients to power you through your day!

This recipe only requires a prep time of 5 minutes. Too easy!

Variations of this recipe can be made such as adding a coffee shot or decaf into the mixture to create a ‘dirty chai smoothie’ or creating a milk-free smoothie by incorporating different milk alternatives with chia seeds and hemp hearts for a creamy texture.

This recipe makes one serving. We have two options below - both milk alternative and non- milk alternative options.

 

Ingredients - Milk Alternative Smoothie:

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 large frozen banana, chopped
  • 1 pitted Medjool date (heat in water for 1-2 minutes to soften)
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 serving of Nutraviva collagen powder
  • 1 tbsp hemp (powder of hearts)
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp ground cardamom
  • Pinch of ground cloves

Or,

Ingredients for a Non-milk Alternative Smoothie:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 serving of Nutraviva collagen powder
  • 2 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 Tbsp hemp (powder or hearts)
  • 2-3 Medjool dates, pitted
  • 1/2 Tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 large frozen banana, chopped
  • 1/2 Tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 Tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 Tsp ground cloves

Optional: 8 cubes of ice

Method:

1. Combine all ingredients, except for the ice, into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. You may need to pause the blender halfway to scrape away mixture from sides of blender to assist with mixing process

2. Adjust the spiced or sweet flavour to your preference.

3. Optional: Add in the ice and blend until a slush consistency

4. Pour into a glass or bowl, and sprinkle cinnamon or chai spiced powder for maximum flavour and presentation.
