Bovine collagen is a naturally occurring protein present in the connective tissue, bones, cartilage, and hides of cows. The most widely available collagen supplements in the market today are derived from cowhides. Bovine collagen generally consists of two types of collagen: Type I and Type III. Once the cattle are harvested for meat, the hides are taken away to extract the collagen within them. A slow cooking process turns collagen sourced from animals into gelatin.
Nutraviva's Collagen Hydrolysate is a bovine collagen powder, it is extracted from the dermal layer of hides of grass fed and finished cattle. It is a pure unblended powder free from allergens, GMOs, glyphosates and antibiotic residue.
What is bovine collagen hydrolysate?
Collagen undergoes an additional process in manufacturing whereby specific enzymes are added to breakdown the protein chains into small collagen peptides. These peptides make collagen more bioavailable in comparison to gelatin as it can be absorbed into the bloodstream very rapidly. Once the enzymes have finished cleaving the protein chains down, the liquid solution is then sprayed and dried, and is then referred to as collagen hydrolysate.

Reducing gut inflammation caused by poor dietary choices
Why grass fed and finished?
It is important when purchasing bovine collagen to consider how cattle were raised and what they were fed; for health of yourself and your family, but also for the health of the environment. Nutraviva’s bovine sourced Collagen Hydrolysate is sourced from an established company using humanely raised, grass-fed and finished cattle.
There is currently no bovine collagen hydrolysate manufactured in Australia. After extensive sourcing research, we determined that the only country with a suitable grass-fed and finished product was Brazil. All other countries investigated were unable to separate source material and appeared to have a blended variety of grass and grain-fed product.
